Food4Kids Backpack Program Receives $100,000 Grant from Gas South Donation is part of the natural gas leader’s annual Impact Investment Awards initiative. GAINESVILLE (July 12, 2023) – Gas South, the Southeast’s leading natural gas provider, announced a $100,000 donation to Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida. A nonprofit organization with a mission to provide food and vital resources to chronically hungry children in the North Florida region. Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida serves children ages 5 to 18 experiencing food insecurity in Alachua, Levy and Dixie Counties. Gas South’s donation will enable the nonprofit to expand their services into Bradford County and to purchase a box truck for transporting food in bulk. The funding will cover the costs of distributing 150 bags of food weekly to serve up to 300 children from food insecure homes in Bradford County. “No child should ever go hungry, and Gas South is extremely proud to join in the fight against childhood food insecurity,” said Kevin Greiner, CEO at Gas South. “The Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida is changing lives and providing resources to an extremely vulnerable population. We are thrilled to help expand those efforts.” This donation comes as part of Gas South’s annual Impact Investment Awards program, an annual funding effort to support various children and family charities throughout Georgia and North Florida. This is the first year the company’s customers joined employees in their voting process to select winners. More than 10,000 customers voted for this year’s finalists. In addition to the Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida, Gas South employees and customers also selected Sunshine on a Ranney Day in Georgia, which provides no-cost home renovations for families of children with special needs. This initiative is an extension of Gas South’s Be A Fuel For Good commitment, through which it donates 5% of annual profits to children-oriented organizations and programs. ### About Gas South: Gas South is one of the largest retail natural gas providers to over 440,000 residential, business and government customers across 14 states spanning across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. Unbelievable morning full of surprise blessings! Can’t begin to thank Anthem Church for their continued support and blessings. What an amazing impact to not only Food4Kids but towards so many hungry kids in our community!
Amazing support at Bronson’s Trunk or Treat this Halloween! The generous community of Bronson helped raise 300lbs of non-perishables for the F4K pantry at Bronson Elementary. These “famous” volunteers outdid themselves this year! Thanks Peggy, Ed, Ian, & Kathy. I’m sure you grabbed lots of attention at your table!
Optym continues to bless us! Our new warehouse didn’t have any shelving and in less than one week from a brief tour and visit, these pallet shelves were a reality. More organization = more productivity! Thanks Pauline & Charles.
Results are in…1,297.4 pounds of food collected during the Food4Kids Throw Down hosted by Dynasty Crossfit! Because of your teamwork & generous members, over 185 children will take home a backpack with food for an entire weekend. Thank you to all who participated and worked so hard to ensure your team made an impact on childhood hunger.
Where do you start when your heart is exploding with appreciation and overwhelming thanks for all the hard work that goes into securing 10,000 pounds of food used to feed 41 hungry kids in our local community every weekend for an entire year?!! This 4th annual food drive hosted by Haile Jewelry and Loans officially goes down in history for us as the LARGEST SINGLE FOOD DRIVE DONATION we’ve ever received! These results could not have been possible without the generous community and the people behind the success. Monetary donations were made towards buying food, cans were hand delivered, businesses hosted food drive competitions, and boxes were strategically placed for general collections amongst staff & customers throughout Gainesville. HOME: Living in the Heart of Florida Magazine was an early supporter again this year with their ad donation and along with The Village Journal at Haile Plantation both sent photographers to help cover the event, KISS 105.3 donated air time to generate support and awareness for the cause and event, Spa Royale generously matched Friday donations to double the impact received on those days leading up to the BIG DAY & donated their trailer to haul food to the warehouse, Wilson’s Custom Flooring brought their truck to haul food, Shands Patient Financial Services rocked their collection efforts, Margot’s Impeccable Pickles took their proceeds from pickle sales and purchased food to donate towards the event, DeConna Ice Cream shared free ice cream & I Love NY Pizza (Gainesville Fl) gave away a free slice of pizza for donors on day of, gift certificates were graciously donated by Salon 119 Haile Market Square, gift baskets were donated by Haile Kitchen and Bath, LLC, Haile Plantation Publix allowed us to be present on that Saturday sharing the food drive & program with shoppers, Anthem Church recruited individuals to help with all the physical labor of love on the final day, our F4K volunteers worked in the warehouse to put away 10,000 pounds of food, and the list goes on and on! None of this would have been made possible without the generous hearts and efforts of Sheena & Clint Asbell! Genuinely two of the most passionate and generous people supporting our community. When you see them, please say thanks for their support!
Thank you all for your donations, kind words, sharing of posts, and hard work on the final day to help load, unload, weigh and sort 10,000 pounds of food. Lots of smiles & sweaty hugs were shared from generous supporters to make a difference in the life of a hungry child! THANK YOU!
